Brother Mark Koltko-Rivera presents “Of Masons and Mormons: The Relationship Between Freemasonry’s Rituals of Initiation and the Latter-Day Saint Temple Ceremonies.” Brother Koltko-Rivera was raised a Master Mason in Winter Park Lodge #239 F&AM (Florida), and is a member of the Orlando Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies. He is also an active Latter-day Saint, or Mormon, who is very familiar with the LDS temple ceremonies. An elected Fellow of the American Psychological Association, he has received awards for his scholarship regarding the psychology of religion, and humanistic psychology. Brother Koltko-Rivera thus brings to his subject the triple perspectives of Freemasonry, the Latter-day Saint faith, and psychology. He now lives in New York City, where he is active in various Masonic organizations, and in his local LDS congregation. He is the author of Freemasonry: An Introduction (Tarcher/Penguin, 2011), and is currently working on a new book, The Mormon Faith.
